The the countdown was on with less than 10 hours to be at the airport in Madrid, and I was still in Seville. lol I took the 12:15 a.m. bus which arrived to Madrid at 6:30 a.m. and then took the Metro to my friend Sergio’s apartment. This would have been excellent if I had slept on the bus ride from Seville. How much did I sleep? NADA! I couldn’t sleep at all, so you can imagine how I felt when I rocked up to his house at 7:30 a.m. in the morning. My eyes wanted to pop out of my head! He lived at Menendez Pelayo and I was coming from Mendez Alvaro, which thankfully was only a stop away.
Going to Sergio’s house was like going to my house. It felt familiar, and safe as though it was a home base in Spain of mine from spending a few weeks at his house couch surfing in 2009. Sergio opened the door still asleep to let me in. I saw his beautiful cat Nukita which was the first cat I have ever bonded with. She hadn’t changed in two years and still looked the same.
I dropped my suitcases in the living room and fell asleep for an hour. I woke up feeling like a zombie from not sleeping and took a shower. I said goodbye to Sergio who was still asleep. lol Basically, I was at his house for 2 hours sleeping while awake and he was asleep too. lol I left a bit sad because I didn’t have that much time to spend with Sergio, but I knew within that I will be sure to see him sometime soon, I mean I am a Permanent Vacationer!! lol
I took the Metro back to Bajaras International Airport and checked in. I made it! 24 hours ago I was in Tarifa and could see Africa, to Sevilla and then my bus ride back. A mission! A journey! An Adventure! An authentic travel experience! Now time for home sweet home. My pillow awaits.
