With My Scandinavian Roomies, Waikiki Beachside Hostel

How to choose a hostel when travelling to Honolulu, Hawaii?

To tell you the truth, I didn’t really investigate much of Honolulu when deciding to travel for my 8th vacation of the year. Travelling alone, I was searching for a hostel in a good location, where I would be central enough to roam around in quick time.

The first and only place I landed upon with google was: Waikiki Beachside Hotel. It seemed to be literally right on Waikiki! They had an excellent online presence, so I booked without looking any further.

Waikiki Beachside Hostel, Honolulu

Here are 10 Reasons why to travel to Waikiki Beachside Hostel

1) The location is excellent being 2 blocks from Waikiki Beach!
2) You can meet lots of international people travelling alone & with friends.
3) You are 30 seconds from an ABC STORE. ( Convenient store/souvenir store/liquor store!!! lol Wine for $6.99!!)
4) Backpackers usually go out at night if you choose to go. Nights like $1 drinks at Senior Frogs.
5) The staff are very accommodating in helping you with anything. Tim was very helpful in switching my room the first night to a better room.
6) You can meet great friends!!! I met two Scandinavian room mates that were sooooooo much fun! We laughed and laughed and laughed!!!!
7) You can meet a hot guy! ( Or at least I did!)
8) The buses are a one minute walk from the hostel taking you all over the island for $2.50.
9) Rates are really good! I stayed in a 4 room Dorm with girls for $31.71 a night!
10)It’s the “Cool Hostel” of Waikiki!!!!

I had a wonderful time at Waikiki Beachside Hostel! I had a good mix of beach, socializing, going out and making great friendships. It was actually sad to say goodbye to a few friends I made.( You know who you are!!!) I had wonderful moments of laughing so hard, I felt as though I was drunk without drinking anything. :) LOVED THE ABC STORE! LOL ….. The location was excellent. The washrooms could use some renovations, but whatever in the grander scheme of things. The first night as I mentioned on a video on you tube, I wasn’t impressed just because I was in a room where there were long term guests who were staying a lot longer than a few nights. They were practically living there and had it as their apartment. The next day I was able to switch my room with the help of Tim, and my entire experience changed! If you aren’t happy the first night, just ask to change your room. :)

Enjoy your experience in Honolulu!
