Travelling to Cartagena, Colombia please be sure to check out Donde Fidel Salsa Bar. It is located In between De los Coches Square and Aduana Square, not far from the Puerta del Reloj. Although it is a tiny bar, they have a massive outdoor patio with a great ambiance of the walled city, the clock, people walking by, salsa dancing and drinks. I am dancing salsa with The Cartagenian Will who I met on www.couchsurfing.org. Tweet him @thecartagenian. There will be many more videos with him to come. Up next: Playa El Laguito

Shopping at Exito Supermarket in Cartagena, Colombia. Backpackers Brie from Australia & myself from Canada are buying some groceries to make dinner back at El Viajero Hostel. I was craving a yummy salad since being in Colombia, I had been eating a lot of fried foods. We had in mind a tuna salad with guacamole. So I guess some corn chips need to go with that! That is if we can ever find them at the supermarket. Donde estan the corn chips? And some Medellin Rum, RON!!!! Ok, so maybe this isn’t going to be that healthy, but it will be yummy, light & fun! We bought lettuce, tuna, limes, red onions, tomatoes, avocados, Medellin rum & a soft drink called Toronja, which I believe is grapefruit. What I loved about the supermarket Exito in Cartagena, Colombia was that they play salsa music! That’s kind of fun while looking for some rum to buy, righhhhht?
Travelling to Playa Blanca & Islas del Rosario is an hour away from Cartagena, Colombia which makes it an ideal day trip. I booked this trip with The Cartagenian. Myself and 3 other fellow backpackers were to meet at the gate of the wall city under La Puerta del Reloj at 9:00 a.m. and then taken to the dock.
The trip cost 55.000 pesos ( $27 CAN) which included the speed boat ride to Islas del Rosario ( You can visit the aquarium or do snorkelling. Entrance & rental not included) and a yummy lunch.
I recommend if you are going for the day, you just go straight to Playa Blanca so you can more beach time. I found because we went to Islas del Rosario, we didn’t have enough beach time at Playa Blanca.
It was at Playa Blanca that I saw for the first time in my life ladies with ass implants! I was really shocked and confused when I saw them. Some of these ladies looked like cartoon characters. I also observed that their bikini bottoms have a lot less material on them. Are we North Americans conservative in our swimwear?
No idea. A traveller on the boat was screaming to the driver to stop the boat as it was going very fast. It was a speed boat he paid to go on. The entire boat was laughing. That part wasn’t on camera. If only I had a camera man filming?
Thank you so much for watching.

Here in this video I share with you a tourist scam I experienced in Cartagena, Colombia. Please keep in mind you can get scammed anywhere. I almost got scammed $500 in NYC, so it’s not just because it happened in Colombia. I was with a few backpackers on Playa de las Americas, when people tried to charge us for even putting our towels on the beach. This is a scam because it’s a public beach. The second scam is when people offer you to try or give you as a gift ” regalo” some food. As soon as you try the food you will be charged. I was offered some lobster and oysters on this beach when I said ” No gracias” several times. I finally accepted and then had to pay. It was only a few dollars I paid so it wasn’t a big deal. Just keep in mind when you travel that food is rarely offered for free. I also share my experience buying some shrimp ceviche on the beach. Thank you for watching my travel journey. I hope you enjoyed this travel tip.
